Still popping!!

I love the pop-up box cards so much that I have gone popping mad!! Here are a few I created...
I found the picture of Wayne Rooney from the Mimic Creations craft CD by The Card Hut. The football is attached with acetate so it looks as though it is in the air.

I love the Born to Shop characters and printed them from the Spirit of Christmas digikit,

The cards fold flat to fit into an envelope.

I am making a whole series of cards from this lovely digikit.

This card is made from Hunkydory paper which came with a craft magazine.

The next card has been created using the Tattered Lace nativity dies.I cut them from craft card then added some colour using Promarkers.

I`m still popping!!

I`m popping up

I volunteered to do a craft workshop at our church. I`ve been wanting to make a pop up box card for some time and this was my excuse to have a go. I love kinetic cards and had seen these kind of cards being made on Create and Craft. This is the card I came up with. It was good fun to make.

I enjoyed making the card so much that I made my husband one for his birthday.
He really loves it and it stands in pride of place on top of the television.

My next challenge was to make some wedding invitations for our son Femi. I have never made a lot of cards in bulk like this. I  made a few prototypes and he choose the one he liked. I managed to make 90 cards in about 10 days using my trusty Big Shot. Every spare moment I was cutting and sticking.
This was the production line in process...
and this is the finished card, or one of many!!
I had to keep it fairly simple because of the quantity. I really put my die cutting machine through it`s paces and it stood up to the job. My husband was very supportive of my cutting and sticking efforts and our son was pleased with the results.

Cardio

Here are some of my recent cards. I bought a magazine with a lovely owl stamp and made a whole parliament of owls!

I made this card for my Father in law for father`s day.

leather jewellery

I discovered I could cut thin leather with my die cutting machine and have been making some leather jewellery.
I used my circle die to cut leather circles and stuck them around an eye-pin to make ear rings.
These were made in a similar way but using hearts.
I also made some rings.

I then tried the same technique to make bracelets.

The butterfly bracelet was made using a Sissix die and I added interference paint on the butterflies.
This bracelet was made with  a Tim Holtz on the edge die.
This bracelet was another on the edge die featuring houses. It gives the dies another lease of life and kept me busy for many hours.

Fimo flowers

I bought some moulds and matching cutters and made some Fimo jewellery.
I cut the shapes out of Fimo and cooked them in the oven to harden them. Before I put them in the oven I made small holes so I could make them into jewellery.
I then painted and varnished them.
I then made them into ear rings.

Over the moon

I recently bought some Pebeo Moonpaint and have been experimenting using it in combination with glass paint on different surfaces.
This is moonpaint on a glass heart with orange and blue glass paint. The glass paint is added first and then the moonpaint dripped on. it react with the glasspaint and produces interesting effects.
I then tried moonpaint on pieces of clear plastic and it was just as effective.
This is moonpaint on thin pieces of wood.
I used my die cutter to cut dragonflies out of soda cans and painted them with glass and moonpaint.
I painted a whole bunch of dragonflies and made them into brooches.
I cut out pieces of CD painted them with moonpaint and attached a dragonfly with a painted glass nugget in between,
Here are some more creatures I tried. The lizard was a metal fridge magnet I had.
The moonpaint is very versatile  and I love the interesting effects it gives. I am looking forward to trying more ideas

Variety is the spice of life.

Well I`ve done it. I`ve finally taken the plunge and started a blog.. I`m a crafter who likes trying lots of different kinds of crafts and likes trying a variety of techniques so I have enclosed a few examples.

This is a section from an applique cushion cover I made. I used some patterned fabric which I further embellished.

I love animals and the countryside and decorated this ceramic clock, which was later fired.

This second clock was painted on glass and the clock mechanism added afterwards.

This was a design I painted on a t-shirt. When I was a student, finances were tight so one Christmas I
painted 17 t-shirts as Christmas presents for people.

I love wood - the texture, colour and shapes. This was a design I burned into the wood with a pyrography tool and then painted.

I made this owl notebook cover using tapestry wool and canvas.

It`s lovely to preserve memories and not just keep pictures on a memory stick. I think I`ll remember what happened but often I get things muddled so I created this scrapbook, which reminds me of the wonderful time I spent in Africa.

I love making cards and Party Paws from Crafters Companion is great to work with and can be used on a variety of cards.

Sometimes it is good to have a generic card that can be used for a variety of occasions.

This was a card I designed using one of the many excellent digikits from daisytrail.

I am teaching myself digital drawing and this is a simple design I made of a lady. Her dress was cut from one of the materials I had scanned into the computer. This is something I want to develop  more.
