CHRISTMAS CARDS

This year I decided to use the Tattered Lace midi side stepper card as the base for most of my cards. You are able to cut two card bases from an A4 sheet and there are lots of possibilities for decorating the cards and I like that you get all the dies for matting and layering in the set.

A symbol of hope

This is my own felt version to remember what so many brave people have done to ensure our freedom.

I have also been working on some felt Christmas decorations.
I just need a tree to hang them from

Tattered lace USA teddy

Tattered Lace have created an adorable American teddy complete with flag and USA tee shirt. You can print the teddies out with a cd and they come in a range of colours. There are a variety of background designs you can print off to complement the teddies. The die is cleverly designed so that when you cut it out you can shape the teddy so it looks three dimensional without the need for decoupage.

I used the Tattered Lace charisma frames to make this easel card. The flowers were also made with Tatttered Lace dies.

I used the Tattered Lace shutter card die to create this card. I used textured paper and additional texture was created with the use of buttons.

This teddy is standing on a Tattered Lace midi side stepper card.

This card opens up to reveal...

a pop up message. I used the larger Tattered Lace pop-up Happy Birthday.

If you are giving a gift you can make a coordinated decorated bag.

I used the Tattered Lace monumental Celebrate die for this card.

This card opens to reveal...

a pop up USA teddy!
To make this card. I made a gate-fold card and used the stitched  die for the edges. I then folded another piece of card in half. I cut a couple of slits across the fold to make the  pop up stand and adhered the teddy to it so the teddy folds up inside the card when it is stuck in place. The additional section was also cut with the stitched edge before attaching to the main card.

Tatty Twinkles Summer and Winter

I made a coloured and black and white card featuring the wonderful Tatty Twinkles from Tattered Lace.
This is a panorama card with four layers. It folds flat to fit in and envelope. It was made using Tatty Twinkles "Summer smile " and embellishment stamp set by tattered Lace. The stamped images were coloured using Promarkers and decoupaged to give further depth.I dotted around the edges before cutting out the images;

The panorama dies have concertina sides to which the various layers are attached.
This shows the back and third layers attached to the concertina sides. Red tape was used to attach the front. The aperture was made by cutting half an oval and cutting the shape of the hill by hand.

Each layer was decorated before attaching to the concertina sides.
I used the banner die and hand wrote the sentiment.
This is the finished card.

Black and white card with several shades of grey...

I think this must be the largest card I have made.
I obtained this textured effect by putting a fairly thick layer of gesso on two pieces of card. The pieces of card were put together with gesso sides facing and then pulled apart. The textured cards had gilding paste applied to give a shimmery effect.
I used Tatty Twinkles Gift Giving from Tattered Lace. The set comes with stamps and dies. I coloured the image with various shades of grey and cut the outline in black to give a shadow.
Tatty Twinkles was mounted on the textured gesso effect cut using the Tattered Lace oval shutter card set. This set is very versatile and can be used in many ways.
I used the Tattered Lace Starter set frame and added some ribbon and lace to decorate.
I did not have any large dies so I used two of the Charisma frames from Tattered Lace, which were cut in half and attached to a square, after being embossed to create the large frame.
Large flourishes were added to the large frame before Tatty Twinkles was mounted
 on top. The tuck in hearts were added to the sides;

I made flowers using Tattered Lace dies and added them to the card. Some flowers had gilding wax on them to add interest, The large roses were made using the Floral layers rose dies.

I folded another card to make the base for the easel card and decorated it with papers and flowers to co-ordinate.
Lastly I added a bow and a sparkly gem made from melted glue stick covered in glitter.

Fishing fun!

I am not really interested in the signs of the zodiac but love the Pisces fish from Tattered Lace. The fishes come as a pair and are easy to separate if you wish t use them as separate fishes. I loved making samples and could have carried on for ages. The fish got my creative juices running.
I cut the fish from paper I had painted and cut the fish again in black to create a shadow.

I cut the fish from cereal packet and stuck three layers together. I painted with gesso and then used Pebeo glass paints to get this effect. I attached a brooch back.

This fish was cut from vilene which was painted and mounted on decorated felt. The vilene was quite thick and did not cut through completed but there was a clear line for me to cut.

I made a pop up box card. The blue and white paper was created by blowing the paint around the paper using a straw.

This is a shaker card. I created the background using Serif and the fish was made using the same method as the brooch.

The fish was again made using layered card and this time it was painted using pearlised paint. I  added washing up liquid to the paint and blew bubbles which I captured onto to paper to create the background.

I think it is great you can use the dies to make matching bags is you are giving a gift. The fish were cut from painted paper.

I had great fun making this canvas using a variety of materials.

I used painted corrugated card and cut bubble card to create texture on this tag.

I decorated a heart shaped coaster using the fish. I coasted it with modge podge to give it some protection.
